The best things I ate last week 24.09.15

Much to the dismay of my waistline, the past 7 days have provided me with plenty of lovely foodie treats. Here are the 7 best things I shoved in my gob last week…

1.Macaron from Pierre Herme in Covent Garden. The yoghurt filling made for a lighter change from the norm. If you’ve got a sweet tooth then you need to try one, trust me.

2.I do occasionally try to be healthy. After an hour of hell doing Body Pump, I came home and made this smoked salmon, poached eggs and avocado on sourdough toast. #eatcleanliftheavy as they say.

3.This ice cream sandwich from the Blu Top ice cream van on Druid Street market was LUSH. I went for the brown toast and jam ice cream topped with pretzels, sandwiched between two choc chip cookies.

4.Street Feast’s latest food market #Dinerama in Shoreditch was packed on our sunny Saturday visit. The pork ribs from Smokestack (£8.50) were worth the visit alone.

5.It’s certainly no looker, but a roast pork and crackling sandwich smothered with apple sauce (£6.50) from Roast to Go in Borough Market is a pretty decent hangover cure. You get masses of meat too.

6.A day trip down to Margate to see the recently restored Dreamland – which was thoroughly charming. Recently opened Roost was a great spot for some cracking rotisserie chicken.

7.The kitchen at the Newman Arms in Fitzrovia has been taken over by The Cornwall Project and the cooking is pretty darn tasty. This violet mousse with English blueberries and pistachio crumble was the perfect end to our meal.
