Angie Silver’s 5 favourite hotels from around the world

Angie Silver

Popular lifestyle, food and luxury travel blogger Angie Silver spends a great deal of time all over the shop in search of the finest hotels and restaurants to then write up on her blog Silverspoon London. In this week’s 5ourites, this Bucks-born glamour puss tells us her five favourite hotels around the world.

1. The Four Seasons Resort, Bora Bora
In the middle of the South Pacific lies the beautiful island of Bora Bora and the luxurious Four Seasons Resort where I spent a few days of my honeymoon. Our home here was a stunning bungalow perched on stilts over a crystal clear lagoon with views of Bora Bora’s Mount Otemanu. The resort has four different restaurants and we loved the beach front barbecues and traditional Polynesian food that we enjoyed whilst we were entertained by spectacular fire dances.

2. Ellerman House, Cape Town
Ellerman House in Cape Town is like a home away from home and the personal service makes you feel like you’re one of the family. I loved the beautiful location overlooking Bantry Bay. One of my favourite things about this gorgeous Edwardian mansion house hotel was the food. Every day the chef creates a new menu for the guests but they are free to talk to the kitchen with any special requests. There’s also access to a full pantry of homemade goodies, including a cake of the day!

3. Il Salviatino, Florence
Il Salviatino has just about the most stunning location that I’ve ever seen; it is set on a hillside with views over Florence and surrounded by perfectly manicured gardens. The hotel is actually a beautifully restored 15th century villa and it’s the perfect place for a romantic retreat. I loved the excellent service, antique interiors and beautifully prepared breakfasts whilst staying here.

4. The Viceroy, Bali
I adored this beautiful boutique hotel that we stayed in during our recent trip to Bali. Located in Ubud, The Viceroy Hotel has a stunning view of the jungle and valley which you can take in from the hotel’s main infinity pool or from the private pool in your gorgeous thatched villa. The food at the Cascades restaurant was excellent and I really enjoyed my massage at the Lembah Spa.

5. Castiloga Ranch, Napa Valley
Perhaps the ultimate retreat for wine lovers, gorgeous Calistoga Ranch in the Napa Valley has its own on-site vineyard and private label wine. The location is absolutely beautiful and the hotel is nestled on the mountainside, surrounded by oak trees with its own private lake. The rooms are gorgeous wooden lodges with indoor and outdoor living spaces and best of all, each has a hot tub. The Lakehouse restaurant serves world class cuisine paired with an excellent wine list, of course!
