Pop in to the pop up before it pops off: Little Bao

Little Bao

Pop up alert! Whilst on holiday in Hong Kong, Soho House founder Nick Jones popped into Little Bao’s tiny restaurant and liked it so much, he’s brought them to the UK. For one week only (so you haven’t got long) Little Bao have taken over the kitchen at Soho Kitchen and Bar, which is all rather exciting.

Highlights from our luncheon featured K-wings in a gochujang glaze (£7.50) and some little pan-fried short-rib dumplings (£10), which had a masterful balance between crunch and grease.

The baos (all £6) tickled our pickle in the nicest of fashions. The pork belly was fatty, the fish tempura crisp and the sichuan fried chicken so salty you’ll need a good glug of saké to wash it all down. We finished with a sweet bao; a deep fried bun filled with green tea ice cream drizzled with condensed milk (£3.50); worth getting sticky fingers for.

So we’re fans of Little Bao – and having never been to Hong Kong before it’s the perfect chance to give their little baos a go. After Sunday 13th they’ll be gone, so be quick.

Follow Little Bao on Twitter and Instagram for more info on their week long pop up.

We dined as guests of the restaurant.
